A farmer found something strange in his garden and shared photos: internet users can’t figure out what it is

When a user named Daisuke Shibamoto shared photos from his farm in Japan, social media went wild. The images showed hundreds of strange objects scattered across the ground. From a distance, they looked like something straight out of a horror movie — slimy, lumpy, and eerily alien.

Viewers quickly compared them to xenomorph eggs from films like Alien and Prometheus. Many described the scene as chilling, as if some otherworldly creature might erupt from the ground at any moment.

The Farmer Was Unfazed

Surprisingly, the farmer himself was not alarmed. While internet users were horrified, he carried on with his daily routines — tending to his tractor, chatting with neighbors, or enjoying a cup of tea. “Ah, nonsense,” he shrugged, completely unbothered by the eerie appearance.

To those seeing the photos online, though, the objects looked alive. Their icy, bumpy surfaces and irregular shapes gave the impression of movement when viewed from certain angles, creating a truly unsettling effect.

The Shocking Truth: Rotten Cabbage

The mystery was soon solved: the creepy “eggs” were not alien at all. They were simply rotting cabbage heads left in the ground from the previous year’s harvest.

Due to a mild winter, the cabbages had softened and distorted rather than freezing solid. When spring frost hit unexpectedly, water in the outer layers of the cabbage hardened, giving them a foreboding, otherworldly look.

Over time, natural decomposition has continued, and the cabbage heads now serve as a quirky example of how ordinary plants can take on alien-like appearances under unusual environmental conditions.

From Horror to Curiosity

Although there was nothing supernatural about the discovery, the bizarre shapes have drawn crowds of locals and curious visitors eager to snap photos. The so-called “xenomorph eggs” have become a temporary attraction, proving that sometimes nature can be eerily creative — and surprisingly photogenic.

What looked like the beginning of an extraterrestrial invasion was really just an ordinary farm, a mild winter, and a pile of leftover cabbage turning into something out of a sci-fi film.
