Planning a surprise birthday party always comes with a little stress. “For my husband, Tom,” she replied.

“I think there’s been a misunderstanding,” he said. “We rented this house on Airbnb.”

At first, nobody understood what he meant.

“This is our house,” she answered in disbelief.

The man pulled out his phone and showed the reservation confirmation. Somehow, while she had been secretly planning the birthday surprise, Tom had unknowingly rented out their home online for the weekend.

Realization hit instantly.

“I’m coming home right now.”

About fifteen minutes later, he finally walked through the front door looking completely embarrassed. The moment everyone saw his face, the entire room burst into laughter.

Even the Airbnb guests couldn’t stop laughing at the absurd misunderstanding.

Tom explained that he had secretly hoped to save extra money for a future surprise trip for the two of them. Since he believed his wife would be gone all weekend, renting out the house seemed harmless at the time.

Instead of ending the night awkwardly, the wife made an unexpected decision. She invited the Airbnb couple to stay and join the party.
